Quick guide
If you plan to use your headset (when on the computer) mostly with Teams, get the Teams version. If not (and particularly if you plan to use with a softphone), get the UC version. If your version isn’t available, give us a call and we’ll check if a different variant will impact you at all.
A bit more detail
MS Teams certified headsets come out of the box with some additional shortcuts or notifications when Teams is running. They are compatible with Zoom, Googlemeet and most softphones. They’re just best buddies with Teams. Once in a blue moon we see an issue where a Teams headset doesn’t like a particular softphone.
UC or Unified Communications headsets will work with all programmes. It will be certified for major softphones. It WILL work with Teams, you just may not see those extra features that a Teams Certified version would give you.
Call Control
The ability for a headset to offer remote call control when used with a softphone (answer calls from the headset) is based on coding that needs to be built into the softphone. This usually also needs an app from the headset manufacturer to be downloaded for a settings change to be made to the headset.
As with all wireless headsets, when used with a desk phone you will need an accessory to answer and finish calls via the headset. We call it a RAD (remote answering device). It could be a standard handset lifter or a special ‘electronic hook switch’ (EHS) cable that runs from the base unit to the telephone – it all depends on which make and model phone you have. If you decide not to get this accessory, you’ll need to press a button on the telephone (or lift the handset up yourself).Headsets, HP, Stereo, Teams certified ✅, WirelessHeadsets, HP, Stereo, Teams certified ✅, Wireless
